POLI 142A - US Foreign Policy

How does the United States conduct policy overseas? Why are US tariff policies so important for domestic and international politics? Why does the US engage in international conflict and what effects do they have on national security? Should the US play a more active role in international affairs? Why or why not, and what are the implications? These are all questions that scholars and practitioners of US foreign policy have grappled with in the modern era. In this course, students will explore America’s role in international politics, what shapes this role, and its potential effects.
